Diaverum Spain obtains Carbon Footprint Seal Registry from OECC
We are proud to share that Diaverum Spain has been awarded the seal of the Carbon Footprint Registry from the Spanish Office for Climate Change - (Oficina Española de Cambio Climático - OECC).
At Diaverum we are committed to the United Nations 2030 Agenda, and we use its Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to prioritize our initiatives with the aim of positively impacting people's health and the environment. Specifically, we want to lead our actions and strategies in Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Reduced Inequalities, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action and Partnerships for the Goals.
For Diaverum, energy efficiency and the minimization of the impacts derived from this consumption are a priority, and for this reason we apply adequate preventive measures and thus advance in continuous improvement towards processes that are more respectful of the environment. Within these measures, the company has obtained the Carbon Footprint Seal Registry.
The Carbon Footprint Seal Registry is a voluntary process composed of different phases, run by the OECC, which is the governing body of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and is responsible for developing policies related to climate change in the country. In this first phase, data obtained relating to 2020 has been used to calculate its carbon footprint as a first step to establish an emissions reduction plan, based on some commitments that Diaverum will assume. In the future our commitment will be carried out actions to compensate emissions through projects registered as "CO2 absorption projects".
The Carbon Footprint is an indicator that shows the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by an organization through its activity. Thanks to the calculation of this indicator, the organization can establish reduction and compensation measures that mitigate its impact on the environment and contribute to the fight against climate change.
Isabel Leal, Quality Manager for Diaverum Spain, who is heading up the project, said: "This recognition comes to endorse the awareness and great effort made by all Diaverum clinics in terms of sustainability and the fight against climate change . We want to position ourselves as an environmentally responsible company, promoting transparency in our communications and actions while we invest in measures to reduce our GHG emissions”.
At Diaverum, achieving the Carbon Footprint seal implies recognition of our commitment to the environment, since in addition to having an environmental management system in place based on the UNE EN ISO 14001:2015 standard; allows us to identify our greatest sources of GHG emissions and establish environmental improvements that reduce them.
“As a socially responsible and sustainable company, carrying out this type of initiative is something inherent to our activity. We undertake effective solutions that help us reduce the emissions generated by our activity, trying to achieve a more sustainable and respectful model with the environment in which we operate and raising awareness about the effects of climate change, and aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals”, comments José María Ordóñez General Director of Diaverum in Spain.
